What is MPO Jumper?
MPO fiber optic jumper, MPO (Multi-fiberPushOn) connector is one of the MT series connectors. The ferrule of the MT series uses two guide holes and guide pins with a diameter of 0.7mm on the left and right sides of the ferrule end face (also called PIN needle) for precise connection. MPO connectors and optical fiber cables can be processed to produce various forms of MPO jumpers. MPO jumpers can be designed with 2~12 cores, and can be up to 24 cores. Currently, 12-core MPO connectors are most used. The compact design of the MPO connector makes the MPO jumper more cores and smaller in size. MPO jumpers are widely used in the wiring process that requires high-density integrated optical fiber line environments, FTTX and 40/100GSFP, SFP+ and other transceiver modules or internal and external connection applications of equipment.
MPO common core number;
MPO is more common with 12 cores, 16 cores, and 24 cores .
12-core MPO fiber jumper is used in 40G network, and 24-core MPO fiber jumper is used in 100G network. 16/32-core MPO fiber optic connector is the best solution for low-latency and ultra-high-speed transmission of 400G network.

How does MPO distinguish between male and female?
The male and female headers can be distinguished from the appearance. The male header obviously has two guide pins ( PIN pins), while the female header does not. The connection between MPO connectors is precisely aligned through PIN pins, and the two MPO connectors connected to each other must be one male and one female. The male head contains two PIN pins, and the female head does not have MPO fiber optic connectors, which include optical fibers, sheaths, coupling components, ferrules, pins (PIN pins), dust caps, etc.
MPO polarity classification;
Generally, an optical link needs two optical fibers to complete the entire transmission process, and the polarity is the inter connection matching between the transmitting end (Tx) and the receiving end (Rx) at both ends of the optical fiber link.
Type A (straight-through type): The fiber cores at both ends of the jumper are arranged in the same position, that is, 1 at one end corresponds to 1 at the other end, and 12 at one end corresponds to 12 at the other end. The orientation of the keys at both ends is opposite, and key up corresponds to key down.
Type B (staggered type): The position of the fiber cores at both ends of the jumper is opposite, that is, 1 at one end corresponds to 12 at the other end, and 12 at one end corresponds to 1 at the other end. The direction of the keys at both ends is the same, that is, key up corresponds to key up, and key down corresponds to key down.
Type C (staggered in pairs): The type C MPO jumper is a pair of adjacent core positions crossed, that is, the core 1 at one end corresponds to the 2 at the other end, and the core 12 at one end is 11 at the other end. The orientation of the keys at both ends is also opposite, and key up corresponds to key down.
The composition of the MPO connector;
MPO connectors include: tail sheath, adapter, stop ring, spring, guide pin, retainer, MT ferrule, outer frame sleeve, dust cap and other components.
