On October 27, the Global Ultra Broadband Forum (UBBF 2022) was held in Bangkok today. Huawei, managing director, wang tao, director of the ICT infrastructure management committee published titled “towards ultra-wideband 5.5 G”, the theme of the speech is prospected in 2030 families, park, industrial areas such as the Internet will be the dramatic changes, points out that the uwb 5.5 G is the necessary way of the world towards intelligence, and to put forward to accelerate the industry evolution four key tasks to do, We call on all parties to work together to accelerate the move towards UWB 5.5G.
Looking forward to the Smart World 2030, the home broadband from gigabit to ten gigabit, the number of Wi-Fi access terminals in the home increased from the current 5~20 to 150~200, the extension of optical fiber to the room becomes a must; Large and medium-sized parks should develop to N*10Gbps Wi-Fi network access, and have the ability of smart operation and management; Small and micro enterprises need large bandwidth, Wi-Fi experience good internal network one-stop service; The bandwidth requirement of industrial Internet exceeds 10Gbps, and the delay requirement is reduced to less than 1 millisecond. At the same time, enterprises will adopt multi-cloud strategy, which requires dynamic and flexible adjustment of network routing. At the same time, network capacity, green and automation are also key development factors. Network capacity, energy efficiency and O&M efficiency will all be increased 10-fold.
“Uwb 5.5G is the only way to a smart world, and it needs to be pushed forward by industry partners such as standards organizations, government regulators, operators and equipment vendors,” said Wang. I am here today to call on the global UWB industry to jointly innovate and develop in technology, network and ecology, jointly promote industrial prosperity and accelerate the march towards UWB 5.5G.”
Ultra-wideband 5.5G connectivity to a smart world in the future requires accelerated progress in four key tasks.
First, jointly define industry standards and unify industry consensus
In the optical industry, ETSI released a white paper on F5G Advanced in September and is leading efforts to define the first standard release of F5.5G (Release3). By 2025, smart home applications, fiber optic cable sensing will be gradually standardized. In the IP industry, Huawei released Net5.5G white paper at the conference. In 2023, the industry will comprehensively improve the ultra-wide access of IP networks and the flexible tuning ability of end-to-end SRv6. By 2025, the industry will further enhance its computing power and application awareness capabilities, and enhance its ability to guarantee network certainty and differentiation for industrial scenarios.
Second, the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain will carry out end-to-end work around technological breakthroughs, product development, deployment and operation, and promote the rapid implementation of standards into industries
In the field of optical access, GPON/10GPON/50GPON three-mode integration, sharing the existing ODN, support continuous smooth upgrade; The FTTR(fiber to Room) solution uses an innovative C-WAN architecture to achieve stable over gigabit across the house with roaming switching time of less than 20 milliseconds.
In the field of optical transport, 400G wave minutes extends the available spectrum from 8THz to 12THz, the number of wavelengths increases by 50%, and the capacity of single fiber reaches 100T. Pooling wave division innovation realizes the flexible sharing of metropolitan wavelength resources among multi-loop networks, greatly reduces TCO, and supports wave division to access stations.
In the IP domain, technologies such as CO-SR and CO-OFDMA of Wi-Fi7 achieve collaboration among multiple Access Points (aps) to improve the overall network experience. UL OFDMA and UL MU-MIMO technologies improve connection reliability. APN6 and SRv6 sense computing power and application requirements in real time, dynamically configure network connection cloud resources, and improve the efficiency of enterprise connection cloud; Deterministic IP technology reduces traffic microbursts and reduces end-to-end jitter to less than 20 microseconds.
Third, industrial policy and target network dual-wheel drive, accelerate the deployment of UWB 5.5G network
The value of new generations and technologies will ultimately be realized through the deployment of the live network. Governments and regulators need to provide policy support, including national broadband strategies, fiber optic cable deployment policies, and housing industry standards, to accelerate the development of FTTH(Fiber to the home) gigabit networks and FTTR construction. Operators need to formulate the 2025/2030 target network architecture, accelerate the deployment of broadband networks such as FTTH and FTTR, accelerate the sinking of metro wave division to access sites, the transformation and upgrading of IP network to SRv6, 400G/800G transmission and IP network deployment.
Fourth, industries should jointly explore new applications to promote ecological maturity
Industry and ecology should proactively explore the future together to give full play to the value of 5.5G UWB connection, support potential new applications, and accelerate industrial ecology. In a 10Gbps everywhere environment, metaverse games and real-time interactive innovation will be carried out, and new business scenarios such as immersive office experience and robot-assisted office in the park will be explored, as well as one-stop Wi-Fi network services for small and micro enterprises. At the same time, based on the network of deterministic experience and flexible routing, it incubates industrial automatic control and multi-cloud application of enterprise association with industrial Internet enterprises.
Uwb continues to develop, and generational definition brings industrial prosperity. The number of FTTH users increased by 790 million in the past 10 years, the number of gigabit users increased by 100 million in the past 5 years, and the number of FTTR users increased by more than 1 million in the past 1 year. In the ToB field, the number of high-quality OTN enterprise dedicated lines has reached 50,000, the number of enterprise on-cloud dedicated lines has exceeded 600,000, and the number of enterprise Wi-Fi 6 hotspots has reached 27 million. In terms of network deployment, more than 130 400G transmission networks, more than 15,000 all-optical ROADMs have been deployed, and more than 100 SRv6 IP networks have been opened.
