Communication power supply equipment, because it is used in the communication equipment room, adopts the size standard of the communication equipment cabinet. Unless it is specially ordered, the cabinet with a width of 1.9 inches or 2.1 inches is generally used. Common finished 19-inch standard cabinet heights are 1.6M, 1.8M and 2M. The depth of the cabinet is generally from 600mm-1000mm, and the power cabinet is usually 600 mm deep.

To understand the structural dimensions of power supply equipment, it is necessary to first look at how the external dimensions of the server are specified. The ” U ” in the several U devices we often hear is a unit indicating the external size of the server. It is an abbreviation for unit, and the standard is set by the American Electronics Industries Association (EIA) .

1U = 4.445 cm = 1.75 inches, 2U = 4.445*2 = 8.89 cm, 4U = 4.445*4 = 17.78 cm

Only when the size of the server is specified , can all kinds of servers be placed on a common rack with the same size and be compatible with each other . There are screw holes for fixing on both sides of the inside of the rack, which is convenient for server installation and fixed with screws . The power supply equipment is also installed in this way in the cabinet.

The standard states that the width of the server is:

19 inches (48.26cm), the height (thickness) is based on 1U (4.445cm), which can be a multiple of U.

21 inches ( 53.3 4 cm), the height (thickness) is based on 1U ( 4.445cm ) as the basic unit, which can be a multiple of U.

Among rack-mounted servers, 1U servers, 2U servers, and 4U servers are common, and 1U and 2U servers are the most commonly used. Because the operator calculates the fee based on the space occupied by the server, the 1U server is the most cost-effective, but the scalability of the 1U server is not as good as that of the 2U server. The number of hard disks in 1U can be inserted at most 4, and the number of hard disks in 2U can be inserted at 8. In addition, the number of PCI slots is also different, with a maximum of 2 for 1U and 6 for 2U.

Similarly, in addition to 19 -inch cabinets for communication power supply equipment, 21 – inch cabinets are commonly used . The following are standard dimensions for cabinets:

Corresponding to the size of the cabinet, the high-frequency switch rectifier module now also uses U as the height standard, and the commonly used height rectifier modules are 3U, 2U and 1U. According to the timeline of power supply technology development, 3U rectifier modules appeared first, followed by 2U high products, and 1 U high rectifier modules have become the mainstream.
